Joe Moore, Jr. (Lansing)

Mr. Joe Moore, Jr. passed away Monday, May 31, 2021, at Sparrow Health Systems Hospital. Age 76 years. He was born April 28, 1945, in Memphis, Tennessee to parents, Walter Joe and Willie Mae Moore.

Joe moved to Michigan at age 26, where he worked at Roman Bakery, Sears, and General Motors. He was employed with General Motors for 37 years, both in Michigan and Kentucky.

Joe listened to the blues, specifically BB King. He enjoyed fishing and watching westerns. Joe was known for wearing a cowboy hat and boots everywhere, so much so that he was often called “Cowboy”.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 27 years, Mary Allen Moore; children, Jacqueline (Kevin), Everic, and Kareem, all of Lansing, Michigan and Torria, Iesha, Joe Lee (Debra), Lorenzo, Barry and Lawrence of Syracuse, New York; grandchildren, Brianna, Nakia, Darius, Anastacia, Mariah, and Lorenzo, Jr. of Lansing, Michigan and Tareona, Riccara, Fatima, Staffa, Erica, Zayaree, Shalin, and Tymire of Syracuse, New York; many great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Louise, Laura Lee (McKinley), and Linda of Tennessee; brothers, Lawrence, Jimmy, and Percy of Tennessee; sisters-in-law, Minnie, Rose, and Victoria of Lansing, Michigan; and brothers-in-law, David, Robert, and Christopher.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Joe and Willie Mae; grandsons, Lawrence, Jr. and Ricky; grandmother, “Big Ma”; brothers, Aldo, James, and Theodore; brother-in-law Henry Allen; and sister-in-law, Annie Allen.
