Mr. John Henry Springfield passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014 at the age of 73 years old after a lengthy illness. He was born August 7, 1940 in Somerville, Tennessee to Fred and Hattie Springfield.
John was a 1960 graduate of Fayette County Training School. He was united in holy matrimony to Audrey Dye on September 3, 1961 and from this union their daughter Shannon was born. In 1969 John relocated with his family to Saginaw, Michigan. He was a faithful employee of General Motors Malleable Iron Plant and a member of UAW Local 455. John enjoyed joking around and had laughter to share with everyone he met. He had a compassionate heart which showed in his willingness to always help anyone in need. John enjoyed playing cards, hunting, sports and spending time with his dogs. He loved talking about how proud he was of his grandsons. Johns wonderful presence will be sadly missed.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Audrey Dye-Springfield; one daughter, Shannon (Michael) Lewis of Junction City, Kansas; one son, John (Marilyn) ONeil of Loganville, Georgia; his grandchildren, Antwaun Lewis of Junction City, Kansas, Anthony Lewis of Saginaw, Michigan and Terrica (David) Epps of Fort Bragg, South Carolina; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Annie (RV) Towles of New York, Mary and Linda Jones of Somerville, Tennessee; one brother, Robert (Deborrah) Jones of Somerville, Tennessee; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; one aunt, Anna B. Bray of Cleveland, Ohio; ten sisters-in-law and five brothers-in-law; many other relatives and friends including his special friends, Willie Hill and Cleveland Williams.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Hattie Springfield, one brother, Ricky Jones, his mother and father-in-law.
The family appreciates the many kind expressions of love and concern extended to them during this time of bereavement.
