Mr. John Marshall passed away Monday, December 16, 2019 at Mother Teresa House in Lansing, Michigan. Age 78 years. He was born June 20, 1941 in Quitman, Georgia. The son of Luscious Marshall and Annie Mae Rose Marshall.
John Marshall graduated in 1961 from Brooks County High School. Later he moved to Jacksonville, Florida where he graduated from barber college. He married Eddie Mae Wilson on April 2, 1964 in Folkston, Georgia. To this union was born 3 children, Sandra, John and Jeffery. He worked for General Motors for forty years in skilled trade retiring in 2009.
Every year John loved taking his family on traveling adventures. Every time we would cross the Georgia State line he would sing, “Mah na mah na beep, beep, beep, beep, beep”. His hobbies were many, such as working on “Cut Dog” his car with his friend, Bill Hutchinson. John enjoyed doing side jobs remodeling homes with his special friend, John Stacy. He loved shopping at Best Buy and Home Depot. John also enjoyed doing special things for his mother-in-law, Fannie Wilson.
John was diagnosed in March with terminal cancer. He fought a good fight. Some of the last words he spoke that will be remembered are “Rev, where you been?” and “where is Kesha?”.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 55 years, Eddie Mae Marshall; 3 children, daughter Sandra (Reuben) Butler; sons, John (Tammie) Marshall and Jeffery (Tahesha) Marshall, Las Vegas, Nevada; 15 grandchildren, Lakesha, Takeia, LaShunda, La’Tara, Andrea, Nehemiah, Erica, Jeff, Jr., Kyla, Chris, Jeremiah, Dominique, Jessica, Patience and Reuben III; nineteen great grandchildren and one special godson, Antwan Todd; 2 sisters, Carolean Roberson and Theresa Oliver; brother, Curtis (Rosalyn) Marshall; one aunt, Ida Graham, Seattle, Washington; mother-in-law, Fannie Wilson, Valdosta, Georgia; 3 sisters-in-law, Grace Godfrey, Valdosta, Georgia, Sarah (Osby) Jackson, Morvin, Georgia and Verdie (Bill) Pointer, Battle Creek, Michigan; 2 brothers-in-law, Mack (Dolly) Wilson and Kenneth (Faye) Wilson, Valdosta, Georgia; many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Elder Leroy Jackson, Bill Hutchinson, Eldridge Cook, George Byrd and Robert Allen.
Mr. Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, Luscious and Annie Mae Marshall; 3 brothers, Luscious, Clifford, and Roosevelt Marshall; two sisters, Jessie Lou Marshall and Annie Mae Hutchins.
