John Wheeler (Lansing)

 Mr. John Collen Wheeler passed away Monday, December 2, 2024, at University of Michigan Health Sparrow in Lansing, MI. Age 68 years. He was born in Camden, Alabama on January 8,1956, the son of David and Mary Pheobie Wheeler, of Camden, AL. 

 John accepted Christ at an early age. He spent his early years in Alabama and moved to Lansing, Michigan where he went on to pursue a career at General Motors. He worked for General Motors for 30 years and retired on September 6, 2006. John enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching sports, fishing and taking trips back home to Alabama. His passion was his grandchildren and his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. He had a wonderful sense of humor and the biggest heart. He had the most infectious laugh, and you would never see him without a smile on his face.

 John leaves to cherish his memory his 2 children, LaDena Goins (Wheeler), Juan Jones; stepson, Tyrice Jones all of Lansing, Michigan; 3 grandchildren, Jibreel Goins II, Nevaeh Goins and Kaiden Goins of Lansing, Michigan; 2 sisters, Carrie Wheeler of Lansing, Michigan, Martha Ann Stephenson of Camden, Alabama; 3 brothers, Bobby Wheeler of Lansing, Michigan, Ralph Wheeler of Lansing, Michigan and Jimmy Wheeler of Boston, MA; Special cousin, Naomi Harvey of Lansing, Michigan; special friends, Haywood Greenwood and John Henry Rogers of Lansing, Michigan; special nephew, Cedric Wheeler of Ohio and a host of nephews, nieces, friends and family.

 John was preceded in death by his parents, David and Mary Pheobie Wheeler of Camden, AL; Son-In-Law Jibreel Goins of Lansing, MI; sister, Lillie Mae Bennett of Camden, AL; and Best Friend Jesse “Pot” Beverly of Lansing, MI.
