On Tuesday, October 21, 2014 Johnnie Conner Jr. entered into eternal peace at McLarenGreater Lansing Hospital. Age 44 years. Johnnie was the oldest son born on February 20, 1970 in Hayti, Missouri to Johnnie Sr. and Estella Conner. Johnnie was raised and loved by Augustus Bailey, whom he affectionately called Dad..Johnnies family relocated to Lansing, Michigan in 1984 where he received his education through the Lansing School District, graduating from J.W. Sexton High School. Following graduation he joined the military and served his country in the United States Army, where he received an honorable discharge in 1990. Johnnie was employed at Tradesman International and worked as a construction craftsman, skilled in roofing, carpentry, sandblasting and saw operation. His co-workers have said Johnnie was known for his hard work, caring personality and being a man of respect. In his spare time he enjoyed drawing, fishing and cooking. He will always be remembered for his famous barbecue recipes. Johnnie had a great love for his family and loved spending time with them. He especially loved his children and his mom. Johnnie would always say he had the best mom in the world. He will be greatly missed but will continue to live in our hearts forever! He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted mom, Estella Bailey; one daughter, Jazmine Genetter Conner of Battle Creek, Michigan; one son, Zaedrien Conner-Townsend of Tampa, Florida; one grandson, Jaiveon Conner of Battle Creek, Michigan; three sisters, Corinthia Conner, Cynthia Conner, and Andrea Bailey all of Lansing, Michigan; special cousin, Myechia Jones; three step-sisters, Yvonne Martin, Debra Bailey, Renee Bailey all of Detroit, Michigan; eight brothers, Gary Conner, Terry (Calicia) Bailey, Tyron (Sherri) Bailey, Larry (Tonya) Bailey, Cliff Bailey, Victor Bailey, Christopher Bailey all of Lansing, Michigan, Tony (Christina) Conner of Haslett, Michigan; four step-brothers, George Bailey, Reggie Bailey of Indiana, Anthony Bailey, Stan Bailey of Detroit, Michigan; grandfather, Roosevelt Woods of Portageville, Missouri; six aunts, Pearlie Mitts of Flint, Michigan, Mary Sheppard, Emma Mason, Shirley (Rudoulph) Cobos, Carolyn Shepherd all of Lansing, Michigan, Cathy Hill of Detroit, Michigan; four uncles, William Woods, Robert Woods, Harold Woods of Lansing, Michigan, Larry (Kim) Woods of Sacramento, California; many other relatives and friends. Johnnie was preceded in death by his dad, Augustus Bailey, grandparents, Genetter Woods, William and Mollie Conner, uncle, Roosevelt Woods Jr., The family would like to express special thanks Ivan E. Phillips and the staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel and Arrangement Services, New St. Paul Church of God in Christ and to all of our extended family and friends for their prayers, thoughts and support during this most difficult time of bereavement.
