Johnnie L. Croom

Mrs. Johnnie L. Croom was born December 13, 1929 in Idabel, Oklahoma, the daughter of Willie B. and Lathan Ross. God called her home to be with Him on Friday, March 13, 2020 at the well-lived age of 90 years.

Johnnie came to Saginaw, Michigan at the young age of fifteen years. She worked in Saginaw Public Schools for many years before retiring. She also was a skilled beautician and worked this profession for 75 years.

Johnnie loved to travel and experience new things. Yet nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her family. A true matriarch, she will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Johnnie was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Croom; son, Freddie L. Reese; parents, Willie B. and Lathan Ross; grandsons, Markeith Jones, Domic Burton; sister, Daisy E. Wilson.

She leaves precious memories with her children, Trenee Brown, Chicago, Illinois, Eddie (Melva) Reese, Billie Burton, both of Saginaw, Michigan; grandchildren, Unica Burton, Michigan, Angela Brown, Illinois, Roxie Burton, Jr., Ohio, Lari Hawkins, Illinois, Antoinette Nathan, Candice Reese, Ohio; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Juanita Hopkins, Chicago, Illinois; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends Zoetta Davis, Dr. and Mrs. Robert Taylor.
