Mr. Johnnie McKinley Sr. passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Age 50 years. He was born August 28, 1962 in Saginaw, Michigan to Hezzie and Eddie McKinley Sr.
Johnnie affectionately known as DJ Red loved music. He especially loved to deejay music. Everyone who knew him knew that he always played music or was somewhere mixing songs every chance he could get. He loved his family and was very family-oriented. Johnnie loved and cared deeply for all of his children, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Johnnie was blessed with a people person with an easy going personality. He valued his close friends just as much as he valued his family. Johnnie was an easy person to get along with and was always open to trying new things. His presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his precious two daughters, Jonnay McKinley, Garland, Texas, CiAsia Jackson-McKinley, Macomb, Michigan; two sons, Johnnie McKinley Jr. and Donovan McKinley, both of Saginaw, Michigan; five grandchildren; two sisters, Betty (Calvin) Ginn, Grandview, Missouri, Mary (Charles) Sledge; three brothers, Horace (Gwen) Davis, Grand Rapids, Michigan, James Willie McKinley; his fianc, Dana Staten; a very special niece, Markisha Stephens; many other relatives and friends including special cousins, Spencer Blackman, James Williams and a special friend, Adlene Jackson.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, Hezzie and Eddie McKinley Sr., two sisters, Rosemary Campbell and Mary McKinley, two brothers, J.D. Davis and Eddie McKinley Jr., one niece, Deshawn Davis.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Markisha Stephens, Darlene Blackman and to everyone who has offered prayers, love and all other expressions of concern during our time of bereavement.
