Joe Edward Green, a loving husband, father, and cherished friend, returned to his heavenly home on Friday, November 29, 2024, at the age of 78. He was born in Kiblah, Arkansas, on Friday, December 7, 1945, to the late Victoria Richardson Green and the late Joe Green.
Joe Edward grew up in Kiblah, Arkansas, before moving to Rodessa, Louisiana, and later to Lansing, Michigan, where he briefly worked at General Motors. During this time, he met Carol Hill, and was blessed with two children, his son, Terence Green, and daughter, Patricia Hill.
In 1966, Joe Edward answered the call to serve his country, spending time in Germany until April 12, 1968, followed by service at Fort Dix, where he was honorably discharged in 1972.
After his military service, Joe Edward moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, where he began his career at Nelson’s Carpet as a Master Craftsman, working alongside his brother, Roosevelt Nelson. His work and dedication in the craft earned him the respect of those around him.
Joe Edward accepted Christ as his lord and savior in 2004 at the Wetumpka Church of God in Wetumpka, Alabama. He often expressed his faith with the simple yet profound words, "I know the man upstairs" and his faith remained a guiding light throughout his life.
Affectionately known as Peco, Baby Dear, and Cool Granddad by his grandchildren. Joe Edward was a man who loved his family deeply. His passion for driving took him across the country, from New Orleans to Florida, Mississippi, and many other locations in search of cars to auction. On these trips he would often visit his family, creating special memories, and his nieces and nephews would always eagerly await his arrival. Joe Edward’s love for his family was evident in the time and energy he dedicated to spending moments with them.
Joe Edward leaves behind his loving wife, Sadie Green, whom he married on July 29, 1981; son, Terence (Yvette) Green; daughter, Patricia (Marcus) Adams; three granddaughters, Tokara, Moriah, and Sarah; one great-grandson, Kamron; two great-granddaughters, Analeigha and Kimora; sister-in-love, Reather G. Nelson; brother, Nelson (Daisy-Belle) Quinney; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
Joe Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Victoria and Joe Green; brothers, Wade Lathon and Roosevelt Nelson; aunt, Catherine and uncle, Dick Richardson; and children’s mother, Carol Hill.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to family will remain in their hearts forever.
