Joseph Jackson, Jr. "Joe Jack"

Our beloved husband, father, brother, son-in-law, uncle, and friend, Joseph Jackson, Jr., "Joe Jack" went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at the age of 62 years. He was born on March 14, 1961, in Pineville, Louisiana, to the late Joseph Jackson and Vera Jackson.


Joseph, known to everyone as “Pops, Cooder, or Cadillac,” was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan, where he attended Buena Vista schools. He turned his life over to the Lord at an early age. Joe loved fishing, fixing cars, and listening to Blues. Joe also loved all sports, especially basketball and football. Michigan and Detroit Lions were his favorites. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Joe was employed by the city of Saginaw for 22 years retiring on October 21, 2022. He will be greatly missed.


He leaves to cherish loving memories his wife of 41 years, Demetria Berry Jackson; they were married on July 11, 1997; Joe also leaves to cherish, a son, Joseph Jackson, IV (Tanisha Speed); daughter, Jotayvia Jackson, sons, Keontae’ Jackson (Stephanie Cooper) and Jaquonn Jackson; grandchildren, Jasmin Mirelez, Cleveland, Ohio, Armon Mirelez, Saginaw, Michigan, Shametria and Joseph Jackson, Indianapolis, Indiana, Jalea, Jha’Miyah, and Jha’Niyla Jackson, all of Saginaw, Michigan; great-grandson, Armon Mirelez, Jr.; goddaughter, Sauve Culberson; two brothers, Calvin Thomas, and Micheal Jackson (Mary Ball), Saginaw, Michigan; three sisters, Emma (David) Thompson, Orange, Texas, Venolian Elaine Jackson, and Antinella Surles, both of Saginaw, Michigan; mother-in-law, Bernice Berry, Saginaw, Michigan; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Berry, Saginaw, Michigan, and Jarvis Berry, Atlanta, Georgia; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends including special friends, Tim (Charmaine) Mathis, Jacques and Al Blackwell, Shelia Jeffries, and Darlene Perkins.


Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Jackson, III, and Vera Jackson; two sons, Jerail Jackson and Devon Williams; two sisters, Constance Jackson and Phyllis Smith; one brother, Benard Jackson; and one brother-in-law, Tim Surles.


The family expresses special thanks to the Staff at  Ascension St. Mary's Hospital Saginaw, and Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff at Paradise Funeral Chapel.
