Mrs. Josephine Cleo Brown departed this life on Friday, May 30, 2014 at Covenant Healthcare-Cooper. She was born on June 27, 1921 in Artesia, Mississippi to Quill and Hattie (Jones) Anderson.
She was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan where she was a faithful member of New Beginnings Christian Church under the leadership of Pastor Willie Casey. Josephine retired from Child Development in 1975 after several years of service. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, traveling, socializing, sewing, and crossword puzzles. Josephine loved being in the company of her loved ones and was the family historian. Her wonderful presence will be truly missed.
She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Hellen (Thomas) Smith of Las Vegas, Nevada; Betty (James) Porter of Saginaw, Michigan; Mary (Arthur) Edwards of Riverside, California; three sons, James (Bradetta) Brown of Rochester Hills, Michigan; Wardell Brown of Ypsilanti, Michigan, and Robert Brown of Englewood, New Jersey; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren, and seventeen great-great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends including her special nieces, Shirley Ward and Ceciel Reed who were her JoAnn Fabrics and Farmer's Market partners.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie J. Brown; parents, Quill and Hattie Anderson; daughters, Hattie M. Crosby and Vera K. Casey; two sisters, Alfreda (Anderson) Barry and brother-in-law, Ollie Barry.
