Ms. Josie Mae Powell of Holland, MI, formerly of Saginaw, MI, our beloved sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away following a lengthy illness on Sunday December 20, 2009 at home. Age 62 years. She was born on April 2, 1947 to Ruby Rhodes and Joseph Rayner in Camden, Arkansas.
Josie was educated in the Arkansas Public School System and attended St. Paul Baptist Church before moving to Holland, MI.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Marcia (Henry Warren) Powell and Traci Powell of Holland, MI; two sons, James (Valarie) Powell of Zeeland, MI and Lee (Elaine) Powell of Holland, MI; eighteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Ruby Brown, Gloria Boyd, Darlene Trader and Dorothy Longuemire; two brothers, Randy Keels and Jerry Rayner; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including a very special and dear friend Diane McKinley.
Josie was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Patricia Irene Powell; grandson, James Powell Jr.; special cousin, Walter Rayner and best friend, Palestine Mays.
