Juanita Elizabeth Morris

June 19, 1932 — October 9, 2018

Juanita Elizabeth Morris was born June 19, 1932 in Wellington, Kansas, the daughter of John Wesley and Jessie Morris.

She was an eight-year resident of Phoenix, Arizona after moving from Las Vegas, Nevada, where she resided from 1996 to 2010. Prior to living in Las Vegas, she was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan for over 50 years. Juanita was a graduate of Saginaw Business Institute and attended Delta College for one year. She worked as a cashier at H&K Supermarket, K-Mart, Al’s Market and Benson & Humes Market. She was a secretary at St. Joseph High School and retired in 1996 from the Saginaw County Courthouse.

Juanita was affectionately known as “Neet” by friends and family. She loved to bake and we loved to eat her desserts. Her family also appreciated her Mexican Cuisine (tacos and tostados) as well as her homemade rolls (mmmmm good) and peach cobbler. She loved to read and this included the entire dictionary. One of her daughters’ fondest memories was her laugh. She would get so tickled about something and laugh so hard that all three of her daughters would laugh too, even though we had no idea what she was laughing about. Our Mom was the sweetest person we know.

Juanita was preceded in death by daughter, Juanita Charles Morris; parents John Wesley and Jessie Morris; siblings, Floyd Morris, Melba Elsie Morris-Buckman, Raymond Morris, Ada Jean (Tish) Clark, George (Hank) Morris, Evelyn Bland, Delores Clark, Mildred Chandler, Edna Walker, Warren (Tony) Morris, Jesse (Boots) Morris, John (Bud) Morris, Jr; grandsons, Andre’ Starr Howell, Donovan Darnell Morris.

She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Juanita (Wil) Santiago, Sheila (Anthony) Stephenson, Carla (Andre’) Mason; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; sister, Gloria (John) McKinney; brother, Lloyd Morris; special nephew, Chico Ansley; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including special friends, Robert and Armell Woods, Pam Williams, George (Buddy) and Cora Taylor, Ann Johnson, Gloria Cormier, Judge Terry Clark, Barbara Lawson, Joey and Lisa Hunt, as well as former fellow employees of H&K Supermarket, Al’s Market and the Saginaw County Courthouse.

The family would like to express a special thank you to her great-granddaughter Felicia C. Smith, Sage Hospice, and the Phoenix Fire Department.
