Judy Terry (Lansing)

Ms. Judy Terry passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2019 in Lansing, Michigan. Age 66 years. She was born October 29, 1952 to Marshall and Virginia Terry in Lansing, Michigan.

Judy was a very loving person and truly loved her mother in a special way. Her daily gift to her Mother was to bring her breakfast and dinner as well as showering her with beautiful gifts. She would give you the shirt off her back. Judy was a gifted artist; a true poet on any stage who always delivered. She loved singing, listening to music, writing poetry and being around her family. Judy loved her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Judy made sure she showed each and every one of them love and always made them feel special. Judy was very spiritual and loved the Lord. She enjoyed writing gospel songs and singing to God. She was baptized and gave her life to Christ at a young age. Judy was rededicated her life to Christ and was baptized again in 2012. So many people who loved her dearly and she will truly be missed by all.

She is survived by her mother Virginia Franklin Terry; son, Elton Terry; 4 daughters, Toshia (Kenya) Laster, Topaz Terry, L'kesha (Frank Panetta) and Tamiko (Eric Rhodes); 8 grandchildren, Toni Fortner, Michael Faulk, Jr., Krista Brown, Marshall Faulk, Nicholas Panetta, Charles “CJ” Simmons, Martez Simmons and Ellaton Terry; sister, April (Ronnie) Terry Campbell; 3 brothers, Gregory Terry, Rodney Terry, and Michael (Renelda) Terry; aunts, Mary Shanklin, Odessa Roper and May Frances Tate; 5 uncles, Joseph Franklin, James Terry III, Johnny Kay Terry, Sammy Rhodes and Benton Rhodes; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives including sister-in-law, Yolanda Ausborn and friends including the significant person in her life for over 20 years, Eric Blakney; his children, Ashley, Ericka, Eric Jr, Eric, Edward, Derrick, Demarcus, Lutece Blakney who loved Judy and thought of her as a second mother.

Judy is preceded in death by her father Marshall Lee Terry, 2 brothers, Douglas and Ronnie Terry; granddaughter, Nija Ju'Shell Faulk and grandson, Darius Simmons grandparents, Mattie Lee Franklin Atwater and Emzy Franklin, Carrie Woods Terry Bloomfield and James Terry Jr.; great grandparents, Thomas Terry, Martha Lasley Terry, James Terry, Jr., Lula Poynter Terry, John Woods, Kate Woods, Joseph Franklin, Mary Magdalene, Clay Franklin and Florence Thompson.
