Julia Heggood (Lansing)

We praise this hour in memory of Julia Heggood who passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022 at her home in Lansing, Michigan. Julia was born on January 17, 1968 to the union of Joe and Deborah Hughes in Muskegon Heights, Michigan. 

Julia graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in June 1987. Julia had a caring spirit and loved caring for the senior citizens. She obtained her Certified Nursing Degree and gained employment at the University Park Nursing Home in Muskegon, Michigan where she worked as a Nursing Assistant for over 20 years.

She later moved to Lansing, Michigan where she continued her passion to work with senior citizens, and was employed at the Senior Care of Michigan.

Julia loved to take pictures, was very photogenetic, loved traveling, shopping, loved her purses and loved to dress. Julia was a very sweet person inside and out. She would help anyone that needed help. She was the “array of sunshine,” and the life of the party. The most important people in her life were her two sons, four grandchildren, her parents and her special niece Remeka.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons; DeMario Davis (Aubrey Cooper) and Dareion Major (Mackenzie Smith) of Lansing, Michigan; four grandchildren; DeMarion, DeMariana, DeMario and Noah all of Lansing MI. Parents, Joe and Deborah Hughes; two sisters; Elizabeth Manning Washington from Houston, Texas and Tinitco (Jerome) Moore of Muskegon, Heights, MI; seven special nieces, two great nieces, three special nephews, three aunts; Darlene Carter, Lucretia Talbert and Daphne (Sylvester) Pete; five uncles; George Hughes, Johnny Hughes, Charles Hughes, Curt and Tara Hughes and Louis and Ann Heggood.

Special friend Tony Estes, and a host of cousins, special friends: Arnetta, Barb, Vanessa, Kay, Reese, Terry Morris, Sonja, Michelle, Tonya Love and Debra. Julia was preceded in death by her Father, Phillip Montgomery, Grandmothers: Julia Heggood and Ellen McDaniel; two aunts: Estelle Heggood, Louise Akins, and one nephew, Joseph Manning.
