June Ousley Purdy-Evans

Ms. June Ousley Purdy-Evans passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Michigan Medicine, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Age 69 years. She was born on April 3, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois to Samuel Ousley and Rosa Conley.

June Ousley Purdy-Evans was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan. She was a proud, devoted Christian, and was a member of New Covenant Temple Church where she served as a Missionary, and held many other positions over 30 plus years. June was a wonderful cook; she made many famous dishes such as Chicken and Dressing, 7-UP Cake, Peach Cobbler and Sweet Potato Pie for family and friends. She could make a meal out of anything she could find. June was a great mother, grandmother and friend; an angel from the heavens who knew how to show her love with the passion she showed in her cooking. She was a hard worker, having spent 20 years working as a CNA at Tendercare of Saginaw. She bought her dream home in 1989 and had been living there ever since. June loved to spend time with family and friends, especially on holidays. She will be truly missed by family and friends who loved her dearly.

She leaves to cherish loving memories her mother, Rosa Conley; two daughters and two sons; Alisa Purdy-Ransom, Walter Evans Jr., Syletha (Godfrey) Myles and Christopher (Ta’Shannan) Evans Sr.; grandchildren, Latoya Gaines-Field, Ann Arbor, Michigan, Godfrey Myles, Jr., Dar’Terria, Dar’Marlan and Clarion Myles, Sentara Purdy, Chandonae Baskin, Nashville, Tennessee, Ashanti Green, Leonard Jr., Mi’Angel and Da’Vonte Evans, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Destinesha Evans, Iysha and Nyair Henson, Christopher Evans Jr., LaShayia Allen, Nancy Evans, Brittney Embry, Walter Evans III, Keira Cospner, Detroit, Michigan, Da’Vonte, Ja’Vonte and Journey Evans; great-grandchildren, Amani Purdy, Dar’Marlan Myles Jr., Miyah Garcia, Jessie, Jamond and Jeremiah Green, and Zadien Evans; six sisters, Fannie Purdy-Blake, Johnnie Mae Purdy-Battle and Doris Purdy-Tyler, Chicago, Illinois, Carol Purdy-Richberg, Elgin, Illinois, and Ruby Jackson, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; two brothers, Bill Purdy, Las Vegas, Nevada and S.L. Purdy, California; nephews, Rodney Blake and Elbert Muhammad; brother-in-law, Denchfield Blake; special friend, Cheryl Askew; many other relatives and friends.

June was preceded in death by her son, Leonard Evans Sr., grandson, Leonard Evans Jr., father, Samuel Ousley and sister, Geraldine Rhodes.
