Mrs. Karla M. Calloway departed this earthly life on June 15, 2021, at the age of 53 years old. Karla was born on January 12, 1968, in Lansing, Michigan to Earnice D. Husband and Napoleon J. Taylor.
Karla was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Karla was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Charles C. Patterson, and later Reverend Melvin T. Jones. She attended and graduated from J.W. Sexton High School. Karla worked faithfully as a Program Manager for over 20 years at Hope Network, an adult foster care home.
Karla was united in holy matrimony to Willie Joe Calloway, on October 11, 2008.
She enjoyed cooking, taking care of others, spending time with friends and family, gardening, selling fresh produce with her husband Willie Joe, baking delicious desserts, playing the lottery, and most of all taking and posting pictures of beautiful sunsets.
Karla leaves to cherish her memory husband, Willie Joe Calloway; father, Napoleon J. Taylor; sister, Shawnette Husband; 3 half-sisters, Sandy White, DiAndrea White, and Kamara White; 3 half-brothers, Thomas White, Raymond White, and Allondo “Smacker” Biggs; uncle, Carl Aldridge; 3 great aunts, Deloris Aldridge and Gertrude Pointer both of Lansing, Michigan and Versie Aldridge of Blytheville, Arkansas; 3 special cousins, Rhea (Michael) McCarty, Synetta Smith, and Tela-Moynai Aldridge; 2 step-daughters, Barbara Calloway and Anita Oglesby; special grandson, Javon Oglesby; 3 brothers-in-law; 6 sisters-in-law; 8 grandchildren; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including special friends, Alesia Knox, Angela Allen, Regina “Pinkie” Shelton, Suzette McElrath, Eliza Cervantes, and Jodi Hart; and lastly, but certainly not least, her precious four-legged daughter, Honey Calloway.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Earnice D. Husband; stepfather, Terrell J. Husband; grandparents, Sinclair and Eva L. Aldridge; 2 aunts, Agnes L. Aldridge and Cheryl L. Aldridge; uncle, William H. Aldridge; 2 half-brothers, Anthony “Tony” Biggs and Deveone Gilbert.
