To know Kathy was to love her. She spent her entire 58 short years on this Earth providing strength and guidance to us all, even as her health declined over the last several years as she battled Multiple Myeloma. She fought with dignity and grace until October 26, 2017, at which time her soul was released from her body and she received her angel wings to watch over her family and friends.
Kathy was born on April 9, 1959 to Bob and Diane Scholle. She attended Okemos Public Schools and Michigan State University. On September 20, 1980, Kathy married her soul mate and the love of her life, Dave Bryan. Kathy and Dave then settled in Grand Ledge, where they raised their daughter, Stephanie, and son, Kevin. After caring for their children at home, Kathy began working at UAW Local 602 in 1998. It is through her employment there as a bookkeeper that Kathy met most of her lifelong friends.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Dave Bryan; daughter, Stephanie (Mike) Service; son, Kevin Bryan; cherished grandson, Lawson; father, Bob Scholle; sister, Kelly (Kevin) Ramirez; and many special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is now graced to be spending time with those who pre-deceased her, including her mother, Diane Scholle, and her dear friend, Connie Swander.
In addition to spending time with family and being a Grammy to her grandson, Kathy enjoyed traveling, crafting, and doing crosswords. Kathy wanted everyone to know she treasured her life and the opportunities she was given. She believed we will see her again one day, but until that time, her words to us are, “Live your lives fully, love each other, be kind, and welcome new people into your lives.”
Kathy wanted us to celebrate the life she lived, so we will be holding her Celebration of Life on Friday, November 3, 2017. Kathy’s family will receive guests from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Faith Lutheran Church, located at 4515 Dobie Road in Okemos, Michigan, with a ceremony also at Faith Lutheran to follow at 12:00 noon. The Celebration will continue immediately after the ceremony until 5:00 p.m. at Harry’s Place, located at 404 North Verlinden Avenue in Lansing, Michigan, where food and beverages will be provided.
Kathy loved parks and nature walks, and she has asked that in lieu of flowers, one or more benches be placed in honor of her memory near her favorite walking trails. Credit/debit donations can be made online at www.youcaring.com/benchesforKathy, and cash donations can be delivered to the UAW Local 602 Union Hall, located at 2510 West Michigan Avenue in Lansing, Michigan.
