Ms. Kay H. Scott, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin was called home to be with the Lord on January 17, 2021, at the well-lived age of 86 years, surrounded by precious love and family. She was born on September 11, 1934, in Charleston, West Virginia to her proud parents, Mr. Robert V. Hale and Mrs. Frances B. Hale.
She was a resident of the Lansing community for over 50 years before moving to Milwaukee to be with family.
Kay attended the HBCU, West Virginia State College and quickly became a part of the literature and fine arts community. She graduated from West Virginia State College with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Teaching. Kay’s professional career included, working as the Director of Friendship Daycare Center and as the Director of three higher learning Childcare Programs for the Association for Child Development at Atwood, Cavanagh and North Elementary Schools in the Greater Lansing area. An advocate for inspiring youth, Kay believed in providing a solid foundation and intuitive mentorship for children to achieve monumental success. She was honored to be the first Head Start Teacher in Lansing, Michigan for the Head Start Pilot Program and played an integral part in the programs’ development.
Kay H. Scott was a phenomenal woman, whose humble grace and unwavering devotion to family, friends and community was a testament of her unconditional love, steadfast strength and courage. A devout Christian who placed God and faith first. You could always count on Kay to send you a care package of encouragement, a special thank you note or card… just to let you know you are appreciated and in her thoughts.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory and legacy her loving children, Sandra K. Scott (Albert) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Harry G. Scott II of Detroit, Michigan; Grandsons, Brandon J. Britton of New York, New York and Drew P. Britton of Chicago, Illinois; nieces, Leslie Bell Harding and Robin K. Bell; many additional relatives from the Bell, Caldwell and Hale families.
She was proceeded in death by her father, Robert V. Hale; mother, Frances B. Hale; sister, Barbara M. Bell; and daughter, Celestine M. Scott.
