Kelli Rodgers (Lansing)

November 30, 1964 — July 8, 2021

Ms. Kelli DeAnne Rodgers passed away Thursday, July 8, 2021, at her residence in Lansing, Michigan. Age 56 years. She was born November 30, 1964, to the late Anna Gee and Lewis Rogers in Lansing, Michigan. Her stepfather, John Gee was also instrumental in raising Kelli.

Kelli’s gorgeous smile would light up the room. She loved her family more than anything and didn’t mind expressing it. Kelli loved fashion and keeping up with different hairstyles. She enjoyed cooking soul food and learning new dishes. Reading and singing were some of her favorite hobbies. She had a love for gospel music, especially The Clark Sisters.

Her laugh was contagious, and her catchphrase “Imma trip, ain’t I?” never failed to make her loved ones chuckle. Kelli was raised on Allegan Street in Lansing, Michigan from the time she was 3. She had a very close attachment to this childhood home, she always referred to it as “The Family House”. It was while living here that her Uncle Henry named her “Miss Pete”.

Kelli attended the Lansing School District; after graduating she became a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.), she was so proud of this accomplishment and the work she did. Kelli took care of many elderly and disabled patients in the nursing facilities she worked for, and later in their homes as a Home Healthcare Provider. She naturally and gracefully took care of her mother and stepfather for years before the need for more specialized care.

She leaves to cherish her memory sisters, Lavida Allen, Celisa Rogers, and Stewardess Kendra Milton; brother, Tony Brown of Phoenix, Arizonia; nieces, Taylor Sherrier, DarShay Sherrier, LaTyra Allen, MarQuan Allen, Daymeia Thomas, Rosa Evans, Aquaria Sherfield, Martha Rogers, Malinda Milton, Kenya (TyQuan) Hammock, and Ebony Brown; nephews, Quincey Thomas, and Malique Rogers; aunts, Helen Gray of Chicago Illinois, Lillie Ruth Murray of Phoenix, Arizonia, and Julia Williams; uncle, James Bland, of Grand Rapids Michigan; and many other relatives and friends including special friend, Jake Powell, special uncle, Henry Hursey and special cousins, Morie “LuLu” Curtis and Adriel Bland of Grand Rapids, Michigan

Kelli was preceded in death by her beloved unborn Baby Girl; mother, Anna Gee; father, Lewis Rogers; stepfather, John Gee; brother, Charles Brown; nephews, Troy Quincy Macklin, Tony Brown, Jr., Edward Brown, and Eric Brown.
