Our beloved Kenneth D. Hargrove Kenny faithful husband, father and grandfather made his transition to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 60 years of age. Kenny was extremely proud of the fact that he had lived 3 scores (60 years), especially because of the trials he had experienced due to illness. Well done thou good and faithful servant, he fought the good fight of faith!
Kenny was born August 5, 1952 in Ypsilanti, Michigan the son of Elijah and Margaret Hargrove. He gave his life to Christ at an early age and always acknowledged God with praise and thanksgiving. He married Emma Lee (ELee) Scott on October 4, 1982. Out of their union they had two beautiful daughters, Sonnet and JeNiece. He also has a daughter Mattie from a previous marriage.
Kenny graduated from Lincoln High School. He was employed by the University of Michigan Health System, where he worked diligently for over 40 years in Masonry Construction. He was instrumental in helping others achieve employment. Kenny enjoyed watching the fruits of his labor and would always point out a building commenting that he helped build it. Kenny loved all sports, but was a devoted Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers fan.
Kenny had the ability to relate to all people and found joy in talking to everyone, which was one of his gifts. He had a spirit of faith and trust which radiated from the inside out. His spirit gave comfort to others.
In addition to his wife and daughters, he leaves to cherish his loving memory three loving grandchildren, Iyanna, Jayron and Aaryanna; a godson, Ryan; seven sisters, Doris, Marcia, Cheryl (Larry), Pam, Debra, Marilyn (Carl) and Donna; two brothers, Richard and Wayne; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors including his special and dedicated friends, Delbert and Mable Walton, Dennis and Pam Gibb and Linton.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Elijah and Margaret, four brothers, Charles, Lewis, Fred and Michael.
The family wishes to express special thanks to the University of Michigan Health System staff members, Dr. Ojo, Heidi
and Elizabeth, as well as his Saginaw physician Dr. Laynes and his buddies at Better Breathers.
