Ms. Kimberly LaShelle Baker Thomas gained her wings on Friday March 4, 2022 at the age of 57 years. She was born October 9, 1964, in Memphis, Tennessee, to John and Ernestine Baker.


Kimberly moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 1990 where she attended Ruben Daniels Adult High School. Kim was a very likeable and lovely person; you could talk to her about any and everything. She would not judge you because she knew she had her own faults. Kim was a very open-minded person. She was not envious, but celebrated the accomplishments of others and was happy for them. Kim loved playing cards, listening to music, going to the casino, and driving people around which was her passion. Kimberly also loved spending time with her family and friends.


Kim leaves to cherish loving memories her mother, Ernestine Baker; two sons, Torrence “Duck” Baker, and Rufus Thomas III, Georgetown, Kentucky; one daughter, Angela LaFaye Williams; thirteen grandchildren, Na'Suan, DaTorrea, Zoe, Torrence Jr., Torryn, Treasure, Toreono, Trinity, DaShate, TaniJha, Leaira, Lehron, and Angelo; siblings, Elmira Carter, Georgetown, Kentucky, Sherry (Michael) Baker, LaShonda Baker, Radcliff, Kentucky, John Baker, Jr., Memphis, Tennessee; godsisters, Sharon (Patrick) Brown, Marva Devlin, Memphis, Tennessee , and Tajma Hibber; a very special friend, Toni Evans; special friends, Juanita Baker, Sheryl Stevenson, and Rufus Thomas; family friend Verna Howard; a special sister-in-law, Michelle Baker, one brother godbrother, Heavy Dee Grady, Atlanta, Georgia; five nephews, Stanley Brown, Columbus, Ohio, Antonio (Kia) Baker, Charles Carter, Michael (Amanda) Baker, Georgetown, Kentucky, and DonQhavace Baker; two nieces,  Keywana “KeKe,” and Shakena “Suga Mama” Baker; five aunts, Juanita Williams, Queen Ester Fields, Linda MacTabor, Minnie Pearl Weatherspoon, Pauline Baker; two uncles, Andrew Boddie, and Merrill Boddie, both of Memphis, Tennessee; a host of cousins, friends, and other family members.


Kim was preceded in death by her father, John Baker; grandparents, Knowledge and Katie Boddie, James and Beatrice Baker; one sister in-law, Mary Walls.


The family of Kimberly Thomas would like to thank everyone for their many calls, texts, and kind expressions of love in our time of sorrow and need.
