Kirk A. Hester (Lansing)

Mr. Kirk Andre Hester passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 in Lansing, Michigan at the age of 54. He was born on September 7, 1966 to Jimmy L. Hester and Verlene Walker Hester in Lansing, Michigan. Kirk was their firstborn of three children and their only son. Therefore, he was the proud big brother to his two younger sisters.

Kirk received his education in the Lansing School District, graduating from Sexton High School. He was employed for many years at Meijer's. He loved sports and was an avid Detroit Lion fan. However, music became his lifelong passion. Under the watchful eye of his father, who himself was a musician, the prayers of his steadfast mother, and many hours of practice Kirk learned to play the organ. He would always get excited when his uncle Apostle John Walker, an accomplished musician was able to spend time mentoring him. Eventually, Kirk mastered his craft and became the full-time organist at Robinson Memorial Church of God in Christ where he served under the late Pastor, Administrative Assistant Elder William H. Lee, and the present pastor Bishop Samuel Duncan Jr., where he remained faithful for 39 years until his passing.

Kirk leaves to cherish his memory his two devoted sisters, Tina (Elder Ivan) Lee of Portage, Michigan, Shannon (Joseph) Jenkins of Poughkeepsie, New York; Godparent, Elder Richard Murchison; Godsister, Cynthia Allen; nieces and nephews that adored him, Kairssa Lee, Alexis Lee (Levertis) Brown, Ivanna Lee, Leena Jenkins, Miles Jenkins, Khemet Jenkins; great-niece, Gianna Brown; and many other relatives and friends, including loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Kirk was preceded in death by his parents.
