Kylete Nasir Owens (Lansing)

March 5, 2007 — May 27, 2024

Mr. Kylete Nasir Owens passed away Monday, May 27, 2024, in Lansing, Michigan, at the age of 17 years old. He was born Monday, March 5, 2007, in Pontiac, Michigan to loving parents, Paul Manns and Carmen Owens. Kylete was a young man who was destined for great things to be manifested in his life. Kylete was loved by many and was a respectful son, a loving grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and a loyal friend.

Kylete attended Everett High School and was an honor student. He would have graduated with the class of 2025. Upon graduating Kylete planned to pursue writing music and becoming an artist. He enjoyed playing basketball and football. Our beloved son loved school and from a young age he woke up an hour early to attend preschool. We believed then he would do great things and be a success.

Kylete loved spending time with his family and friends. He will always be in our hearts. He will always be remembered for his amazing smile, character, and kind heart. Kylete could always put a smile on your face with his larger-than-life personality. His claim to fame was his dreads. He would always state he had the longest dreads in the world! “But Not!” Kylete was a loving member of his community and will be forever missed.

Those left to rejoice in his memory include his beloved parents, Paul Manns and Carmen Owens; grandparents, Darnell Lathon, Glenda Owens, and Linda Manns; great-grandparents Ann Owens, James (Johnnie) Callahan, Wayne (Linda) Woods; siblings, Paul Manns, Brooklyn Manns, Deonta and Donovan Metoyer (Bonus mom, Monique Metoyer); aunts, Camille Owens, Brittney (Sterling) Wagner, Tanesha (Justin) Billips, and Toccara Ledsinger; uncles, Clifton Manns, Gregory Manns, Jr., Jermaine White, Raylynn Hunt, Frederick White, Robert White, Omar White, and James White; cousins, Camron Whitfield, Amyiah Hardie, Terry, Lashun and Tashun Green, Gabriel, Riley and Sharrod Wagner, and Clarence Cohen; many other relatives, family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Joann McPherson; great-grandparents, George (Bertha) Manns, Wade (Fannie) Lathon; uncles, Adriel White; aunt, Shirley Jones; and great-uncles, Anthony and Jermaine Woods, Stanley and Charles Manns.
