On Sunday, September 30, 2012, Lank T. Mims, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle went home to be with his heavenly Father. Lank was born September 8, 1933 in Union Springs, Alabama to Maude Hurt and Frank Mims.
Lank was employed by General Motors Malleable Iron and retired in 1982 after 34 years of faithful service. He was also a member of UAW Local 455. He married the love of his life, Claudia (Johnson) on November 7, 1955 and to this union six children were born. Lank was a very devoted husband and father, a man of integrity. He was a father figure who was willing to help anyone in need. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren; he enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an excellent carpenter and mechanic.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Claudia Mims; two daughters, Trina (Dean) Pruitt, Alethea Foster; three sons, Craig Mims, Antwane (Karen) Mims, Lank Mims Jr.; twenty grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Vinnie Pickett, Columbus, Georgia; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends including special friends, Pastor and Gloria Latham, Herb Williams and Jimmy M.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maude Hurt and Frank Mims; adopted mother, Bessie Pickett; one daughter, Marsha Mims; one grandson, Victor Mims; one sister, Mattie Calhoun; one brother, Pete Pickett; father & mother-in-law, John & Pinky Johnson; five sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law.
