Ms. LaRissa Andrea Yvonne Johnson, our beloved daughter, mother, sister, niece, aunt, cousin and friend passed quietly away into the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at her residence in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 53 years. She was born June 24, 1959 in Saginaw, Michigan to Andre Baraka (Anderson Johnson) and Gaylua Williams Johnson.
LaRissa accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and lived a life of love. She enjoyed spending time with and being there for family and loved ones. Anyone who knew LaRissa experienced her giving and loving nature. She went out of her way to help others and was always there for people in their time of need. She enjoyed fellowship with her family and friends and will be remembered for being a great listener and a compassionate woman.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her beloved mother, Gaylua Johnson, Saginaw, Michigan; three children, James McCoy III and LaNesha (Anthony) DeBardelaben, both of Detroit, Michigan, Trevon Johnson, Saginaw, Michigan; two brothers, Andy Johnson and Brian Johnson, both of Saginaw, Michigan; other siblings, Cass (Sandra) Wilson, Andre (Carla) Mason, Minister Latrelle Bailey, Carlis Jackson, Shashu Baraka, Andre Baraka, Kelley Baraka; a special aunt, Mildred Harris; special cousins, Tammy Williams, Carmen Pratt, and Elaine Johnson; a very special friend Cynthia Bell; other aunts and uncles; several special nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Andre Baraka; her brother, Michael Johnson; her sister, Lynetta Johnson; her special friend, Carolina Garnett.
The family would like to acknowledge the caring staff from Mobile Medical Response (MMR), Covenant Dialysis Unit, ICU Covenant-Cooper 4th Floor and Dr. William Sheppard.
