Mr. Larry Charles Patilla of Detroit, Michigan entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at the age of 60 years. He was born April 27, 1955 in Saginaw, Michigan to Nora Lee Patilla and Jettie Scott.
Larry was a 1973 graduate of Saginaw High School. He also attended Saginaw Valley State University. Larry retired from the Michigan Department of Transportation after several years of service. He always enjoyed his many experiences on the road with his colleagues. Larry was also employed with the Saginaw Public School System as a custodian. He was a faithful member of Israel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Edward McCree Jr. Larry enjoyed fishing, listening to music and watching basketball and baseball. He loved to cook, mentor others and spend time with his beloved dogs, Romeo, Latte and Twin. Larry also loved to laugh and share funny stories with his family and friends. His wonderful presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Harriet Patilla; four sons, Larry Charles Patilla Jr., Delion Moore, Charles Muff Baker and Starkey Sherman (Vanessa) Jones; two daughters, Madeline Jones and Sonya (George) Mushatt; grandchildren, Larryona Patilla, Larry Charles Patilla III, Devontae Charles Patilla, Delionna Moore, Ciara Jones, Marquavious Jones, Char'Tavia Mushatt, Mysteriah Jones, Sonya Jones, Sherman Jones, Cydnei Mushatt, Tanesa (Travis) Boles, Alexis and Craig Jones; a host of great-grandchildren; one brother, Pastor Malik (JoAnn) Shabazz a.k.a. Roy E. Patilla; many beloved nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Donald Hilliard; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Martin Garcia, Cliff Town Harris, Larry McKinley, Hector and Hope Reyes, George Mushatt III and the Detroit Haverhill gang.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Nora Lee Patilla and Jettie Scott, one brother, Fred Hilliard, a special sister-in-law, Leola Moorer, two nieces, Pam and Doris Hilliard, one nephew, Fredrick Hilliard.
