Lashanta Maevette Ricks

Mrs. Lashanta Maevette Ricks passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021, in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 35 years. She was born January 17, 1986, in Saginaw, Michigan to Yolanda Gipson and Bernard Lavender.

Mrs. Ricks was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan. She was educated in the Saginaw Public School District. Lashanta enjoyed many things including playing cards, dressing up, doing her hair and looking gorgeous. She was beautiful inside and out. However, she loved nothing more than her family and friends. Lashonta met and married the love of her life, Chauncey Ricks, Sr., with whom she shared ten wonderful years. To their union, Chauncey Jr. and Cicley were born. Her children brought her much joy, and she loved every minute spent with them. Lashanta also loved dancing with her mother and making her smile. She will be missed by family and friends.

Many wonderful memories will be cherished by her husband, Chauncey Ricks; four daughters and three sons, Africa, Dahnques, Sanjaya, Samantha, Kizi, Cicley, and Chauncey Jr.; her parents, Yolanda Gipson and Bernard Lavender; stepfather, Clayton Caldwell; brother, Jess Hawkins, nieces, Zamareona and E’Myia; nephews, Jess, Jawuan, and Jeremiah; aunts, Victoria Gipson (Gregory) Holmes, Shirley Gipson; uncles, Anthony Battle, Leroy Davis, Wilson Gipson, Jr., Lemar Gipson, Micheal Gipson, John Gipson, Sr.; many cousins; mother-in-law, Paula Ricks, father-in-law, Eric Rogers; brother-in-law, Maurice Ricks; many other dear relatives including Aunt Tiny Layton and Uncle Lonzie; special friends, Kenya Wilson and Vernessa “Shortie” Clay.

Lashanta was preceded in death by her grandmother, Shirley Gipson, grandfather, Wilson Gipson Sr., and uncles, Anthony, Leroy and Wilson.
