Latisha Lashone Smith

Latisha LaShone Smith, known as “Ms. Gee”, entered the world on April 9, 1980 in Saginaw, Michigan. The daughter of Linda Smith, she immediately brought joy to her mother and family upon her arrival.

Ms. Gee was a long-term resident of Saginaw and she always represented her city wherever she went. She was a student of Saginaw Public Schools and graduated from Saginaw High School, “Class of 1998.” She was a faithful member of St. John Baptist Church where she served in the music ministry. She worked diligently at the Saginaw Board of Education before her health prevented her from working.

Ms. Gee was full of life. She loved to laugh, sing and have a good time. She prided herself on her appearance and was constantly getting her hair done. Going to the casino and bingo were her favorite things to do. She loved her friends and family and enjoyed cooking for them. If family was getting together, you could count on her to be there.

A wonderful mother who feared and loved the Lord is who she was. As a mother of three boys, she was very aware of the fact she was raising men and she set an example for them of what a real woman looks like. She was our peacemaker and wanted everyone to always get along. We haven’t loss Ms. Gee because we know exactly where she is. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”

On Friday, November 30, 2018, our beloved daughter, mother, sister, aunt and friend, gained her wings and went from labor to reward. She was greeted by her father, grandparents, three uncles and two aunts.

She leaves to honor her memory mother, Linda Smith; three handsome sons, Darien Smith, Omarrion Buchanan, Otis Buchanan; sister/niece, My’Angel Smith; brother, Jerry Smith; favorite uncles, Bobby and Joe Smith; closest cousins, Alina, Constance, Shyla, Michelle, Ciara, Antwan; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who truly loved her, and special friend Otis Buchanan.
