LaToia Jones (Lansing)

LaToia Shanika Jones, born on August 8, 1977, in Lansing, MI, to Anthony Jones and Mary Ann Jones-Johnson. She departed this life on Sunday, October 6, 2024. A proud graduate of Lansing Everett High School, LaToia embraced life with a joyful spirit and a passion for connection.

 Throughout her life, LaToia found joy in cooking, was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and cherished old-school music. A true socialite at heart, she loved to laugh and create memories with her friends and family. LaToia had a long and fulfilling career in customer service, dedicating her last years to assisting taxpayers with their business taxes for the State of Michigan.

 LaToia leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, her daughter, Miyanna Brown; and her three bonus children, Malcolm (Brittany) Brown Sr., Henry Brown II, and Timothy Brown Jr.; cherished by her mother Mary Ann Jones-Johnson; stepmother, Mary Jones; her two sisters, Tonya Jones and Gloris Jones; one brother, Clarence Woods; proud grandmother to Malcolm Brown Jr., Jordan Sims, and Henry Brown II; a loving aunt to two nephews, Jamian Woods and Jaris McIntosh; four nieces, LaResha Hurst, Amiya Woods, Cynsere Edwards, and Essence Edwards; Godmother Trudy Roby; special grandparents, Richard (Carol) King; she also held a special place in her heart for her dear friend and former husband, Timothy Brown Sr.; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

 LaToia was preceded in death by her beloved grandmothers, Gloris D. King and Rosie Lee Wilson; grandfathers, Eddie Lee Jones and James W. Wilson; her father, Anthony Jones; and her aunts and uncles, Ruth Perkins, Goldie Davis, Roy Lee McKinnis, Johnnie B. Scott and Allen Wilson.

 LaToia’s spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed but lovingly remembered for her warmth, laughter, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
