Latoyia Burgos (Lansing)

Nurse LaToyia “ToTo” Mazie Burgos passed away Saturday, July 17, 2021, at McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital, in Lansing, Michigan. Age 42 years. She was born April 23, 1979, in Lansing, Michigan to parents, Patricia and John Horton.

LaToyia was such a delight; she was a sweet, kind, happy, giving spirit with a smile that no one will soon forget. It was often said that she could have been a part-time comedian. She was a natural-born caregiver. Though LaToyia had always worked in the healthcare industry, she reached her goal of becoming a nurse in 2020. Her entire family knew how important this was, they cheered her on every step of the way. She will be respectfully and lovingly remembered by the staff of Ingham County Medical Care Facility and Medilodge in Okemos.

She was so proud of the grandsons her son, Tori, and his beautiful partner Celena had provided to her. And watching her daughter, Dominique, graduate from college this past Mother’s Day only added to the pride this beautiful soul held for her family.

LaToyia and her mother, Pat, loved going to the casino and playing bingo. She lovingly referred to her mother as her “Road dog”. The loving relationship that Pat and “ToTo” shared was something beautiful to see.

With her giving nature and kind spirit, LaToyia loved to surprise people; she had been planning a grand trip to surprise her beloved husband, Curtis, for their anniversary.

LaToyia leaves to cherish her memory, husband, Curtis Burgos; her children, Dominique Davis and Tori (Celena) Davis; her grandsons, Dominic and Javon Davis; mother, Pat Horton; grandparents, Mattie and Henry Parker; sisters, Anjenette Horton and Mattie Horton; nieces, Peyanka Horton, Mariah Horton-Reed, Asia Horton, Paige Reed, and Amani Culpepper; nephews, Mark Williams, Darius Williams, and John Horton-Hillard; aunts, Essie Horton, Shelia Jenkins, Maxine Johnson, Nancy Nelson, and Michelle Beard; uncles, Clarence Watts and Karl Parker; mother and father-in-law, Lillian Burgos and John Carter; brothers-in-law, John Burgos, J.B. Burgos, Will Carter, and Lee Mathis; many other relatives and friends including Arileeta Campbell, Quovadas Jacobs, Heather Warren, and Angie Teter; and her Nursing Sisters, Erika Walton, Brandi Grant, Maniyah Miller, and Laura Watson.
 
She was preceded in death by her father, John Horton; grandmother, Velma Johnson grandfathers, Clarence Watts and Harold Johnson; aunt, Kisha Parker Jones; and uncles, Ivan Horton and Henry Parker, III.
