On March 27, 2022, at age 59 years God called one of His beloved Angels home. Sis. Lauralean Marie Beatty was born on March 20, 1963, in Saginaw, MI to Roy Sims Sr and Savannah Hall.
Lauralean was a graduate of Grand Rapids Community School in 1981. She completed an associate degree program in Fashion and Design at Delta College in Saginaw. She was a music major at SVSU and traveled with the University Choir to Japan (2007), Greece (2009) and Paris (2011). She was hired as a teacher to young at-risk women at ETC alternative school in Saginaw. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, bible studying, singing, and making scrapbooks. Lauralean served her church at the local and state level for many years, and her voice characterized the choir, served as choir director, and performed in many venues as well as the COGIC National Convocation.
Lauralean was married to Nehemiah K. Beatty and leaves to cherish her memory five children: two loving and devoted daughters, Constance Cheatham, Saginaw, Michigan; Caronda Davis, Saginaw, Michigan; three sons: Cederick (Lurlia) Sims, Saginaw, Michigan; Quinton Cheatham, Clearwater, Florida; Dontae Beatty, Saginaw, Michigan; seven siblings; five sisters, Dorothy Sims, Canton, Ohio; Betty (Wilbert) Lyles, Vassar, Michigan; Brenda Hall-Hightower and Joann Sims, Grand Rapids, Michigan; Cynthia Sims, Tampa, Florida; two brothers, James (Carol) Sims, Canton, Ohio; Roy (Delicia) Sims, Saginaw, Michigan; eight grandchildren, several aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; special goddaughter, Shawnette Davis.
Lauralean was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Sims Sr., and Savannah Hall; brother, Ivory D. Hall; grandparents, Willie Hall, and Clara Pitman-Hall.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the staff at Covenant Healthcare Services of Saginaw, Michigan; Mt. Zion COGIC in Saginaw, Michigan; Lewis Temple COGIC in Saginaw, Michigan; Faith Temple COGIC in Flint, Michigan; Good Shepherd COGIC in Saginaw, Michigan; Ivan E. Phillips and the staff at Paradise Funeral Chapel, and everyone that played a special part in Lauralean’s journey throughout her lifespan.
