Lawrence Hodge (Lansing)

October 11, 1963 — February 8, 2020

Mr. Lawrence Hodge passed away Saturday, February 8, 2020 at his residence in Lansing, Michigan. Age 56 years. He was the fifth child of seven born to the late Ms. Geneva Hodge in Mason, Tennessee.

Lawrence moved to Lansing as a youth with his mother and siblings. He accepted Christ at an early age and attended Union Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as head of the Security Team. Lawrence loved church and his church family. He attended J. W. Sexton High School and graduated in 1980. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and he was stationed in Alaska. Lawrence was a hard worker and was employed at CATA Transportation Service for 9 years. He loved spending time with his family especially his kids and grandkids. Lawrence enjoyed spending time at his brother, Ronnie’s house especially when he was helping and learning how to fry Ronnie’s famous fried catfish. Lawrence said, “I’m going to get it one day.” When that day came, Lawrence said, “I finally got it!” Lawrence’s hobbies were fishing, grilling and watching sports. He always had such a contagious smile on his face and a “Hey Cuzz” or “What’s Up Cuzz”. He enjoyed getting on the highway to Tennessee, his favorite place to be called “Home.”

He leaves to cherish his memory daughter, Aerial Hodge, Lansing, Michigan; 2 sons, Lawrence, Jr. and Myles Hodge of East Lansing, Michigan; granddaughter, Ariana Hodge and grandson, Jordan Hodge both of Fort Myers, Florida; 2 sisters, Linda Love and Stephanie (Kevin) Kemp both of Lansing, Michigan; 4 brothers, Ronnie (Paula) Hodge, Thomas Hodge, Dan Hodge all of Lansing, Michigan; and Calvin Hodge of Indianapolis, Indiana; 7 nieces, Shenita, Alexis, Precious, Ashley, Tasha and Saniyah Hodge and Keyonee Kemp; 6 nephews, Demetrius, Jasen, Thomas, Jr., and Malachi Hodge, Montia Nelson and Kyren Kemp; 5 aunts, Ludella Henderson and Barbara (Eddie) Jackson both of Lansing, Michigan, Icy B. Hodge of Buffalo, New York, Betty (Charles) Walker of Atlanta, Georgia and Brenda Taylor of Mason, Tennessee; 2 uncles, Preston Hodge of Lansing, Michigan and Melvin (Liz) Hodge of Jackson, Tennessee; many cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ms. Geneva Hodge, grandparents, 4 aunts and 6 uncles.
