L.C. Moore "Rubberband"

September 1, 1944 — March 24, 2020

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, L.C. Moore, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Covenant Healthcare at the age of 75. He was born September 1, 1944 in Memphis, Tennessee to George Moore and Magnolia James.

L.C., known was “Rubberband”, attended Geeter High School in Memphis. He later moved to Saginaw, Michigan and started working for General Motors Corporation, where he retired from after 30 years of dedicated service. L.C. accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Chevez Marshall. He served as President of the Male Chorus and was a former Trustee.

He met Katherine Shaw in Memphis, Tennessee and the two became one on August 15, 1965 in Saginaw. They opened their home to many people coming to Saginaw for employment. L.C. enjoyed socializing with family and friends as well as visiting the sick. No one was a stranger to him. In his spare time, he maintained his lawn and frequently washed his car. He will truly be missed and forever cherished.

L.C. was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence C. Moore; parents, George Moore and Magnolia Hailey; brother, Joe Hailey; aunt, Areleana Gladney; cousins, Carolyn Horrison, Rose Douglas and Earnest Hightower.

He leaves a lifetime of memories with his loving wife of 55 years, Katherine Moore; children, Janice Howard, Harold R. Williams, both of Memphis, Tennessee, Katya Moore, Cortney King, Lavario Smith, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Vonta Lawrence, Columbus, Ohio; nieces he raised, Tamika and Tametra; granddaughter he raised, Charmain; sisters, Erma Jean (Stan) Rhyan, Annie (Joe) Pierce, Memphis, Tennessee; cousins, Calvin White, Memphis, Tennessee, Willie James, Jr., Saginaw, Michigan; sisters-in-law, Bertha (Timothy) Carson, Patricia (Lee Sr.) Moten, Sandra Kilpatrick; brothers-in-law, Sammie Sr. (Betty) Shaw, Larry Shaw, Joe Pierce; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, too many to name.

The family would like to express special thanks Covenant ER and 7th Floor Hospital Staff, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
