Lela Bessie Hairston

Mrs. Lela Bessie Hairston of Saginaw, Michigan, our beloved grandmother, aunt and mother-in-law passed away Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Covenant Healthcare. Age 97 years. She was born August 30, 1912 in Louisville, MS to Simon and Suddie (Fuliwiley) Wraggs. They predeceased her.
Sister Hairston was a devoted and faithful member of Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years, until her health failed. She was a member of the Wolverine State Baptist Convention Womens Department, the Saginaw Valley District Womens Department, Chair of the Golden Ages, Willing Workers, Mt. Olive Mission Ministry, Sunday School and many more Christian activities.
Her memory will be cherished by her grandchildren, Dawn E. Sanford, Albertine (Bennie) Jones, Marshall S. Hairston and Shayla Hairston; three daughters-in-law, Marva Barnett, Donna Hairston and Brenda Hairston; five great grandchildren; fifteen great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. She will be especially missed by devoted relative and friend Marshall Goss.
Mrs. Bessie Hairston was predeceased by her siblings; her husband, Willie Hairston and her children, Albert, James and Marshall.
