Leon Maffett, Jr. (Lansing)

Mr. Leon Maffett, Jr. passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Saint Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Age 91 years. He was born April 26, 1926 to Leon, Sr. and Mary Ann Maffett in Rome, Georgia.

Leon moved from Rome, Georgia to Lansing, Michigan at an early age. He enlisted in the United States Navy receiving an honorable discharge. Leon returned to Lansing to work many years for the City of Lansing. After his retirement, he worked at Greg’s Janitorial Service. Leon moved to Indianapolis, Indiana to be near his family.

He leaves to loving cherish his memory 4 daughters, Patricia (Dalrois) McBurrows and Constance Jean Moon both of Lansing, Michigan, Denise Maffett, Oakland, California and Dionne (Murray) Corbin, Indianapolis, Indiana; 7 grandchildren, Nikita Porter, Palm Harbor Springs, Florida, Larry C. Moon, Antioch, Tennessee, Evan (Wendy) McBurrows, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Ashley Moon, Eligin, Illinois, Whitney McBurrows, Lansing, Michigan and Jamilia Ring, Oakland, California. Brooklyn Maffett, Indianapolis, Indiana ; 4 great-grandchildren, Emoni V. Porter and Austin W. Wilson of Palm Harbor, Florida, Natalia McBurrows, Minneapolis, Minnesota and Tavian Davis, Lansing, Michigan; brother, James Maffett, Detroit, Michigan, several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Drucella Jones and Mary Fulson; brother, Foster Maffett, former wives, Mary V. Maffett and Lavone Good.
