Leonard W. Dunbar "L.W.D."

March 31, 1962 — August 5, 2021

Mr. Leonard W. Dunbar “L.W.D.”, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021 at his residence in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 59 years. He was born March 31, 1962 in Hayti, Missouri to J.D. and Bonnie Dunbar.

Leonard attended Saginaw Public Schools and graduated with the “Class of 1980.” He grew up in church, singing in the Angel Choir at Bethesda Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Nick Hall, Jr. He later joined Greater Solid Rock Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Ernest L. Reed. Leonard was employed at Schaffer Bread Co. and worked there until his health declined.

A big sports fan, you could always find Leonard watching some basketball or football game. He was an avid fan of Ohio sports; his favorite teams were the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Ohio State Buckeyes. Lent was very passionate and would argue with any and everybody about his favorite teams. He will be missed by family and friends who loved him dearly.

There was never a dull moment in the Dunbar household. He was always joking around and he swore he knew everything about everything. Lent was quite the character and was a friend to all. He would give you the shirt off his back, and he will be truly missed.

Leonard was preceded in death by one son, Jason “JD” Dunbar; grandparents, Galvin and Birtha Hemphill, Burnice and Fronzetta Dunbar.
