Leroy Cedric Dorsey, affectionately called “Lee”, was the last child born to Pastor James & Ella Dorsey on August 1, 1966, in Turrell, Arkansas. At 28 days old, he left Arkansas and relocated to Saginaw, Michigan with his family.
The baby of the Seven Seeds, Lee was the most mischievous and curious child. If his siblings were to write a book about his childhood adventures, it would surely be a bestseller. In between jokes, Lee was a scholar and a stellar athlete. During his time at Saginaw High School, he played Varsity Football, Basketball, and Baseball before graduating with the “Class of 1984.” He then went on to study Packaging Engineering at Michigan State University. On May 30, 1985 at 10:51 p.m., he crossed the burning sands into the Sigma Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Leroy loved his frat, his bruhz, and the royal colors purple and gold.
It is no secret that Lee’s greatest accomplishment was fathering two beautiful girls, Asia and Jada, whom he referred to as A & J. Lee gave everything he had to his daughters and prided himself on being a great father. He was present, loving, protective, patient, and a provider. The bond he shared with his daughters is how daddy’s girls are born.
Lee had his father’s humor and his mother’s heart. He was a storyteller like Papa and a singer like Mama. He was the perfect blend of his parents, and his humor, laugh, smile and thoughtfulness are already missed. In baseball, the goal of the sport is to make it home safe. As a family, we know we haven’t lost Lee. We know where he is, and he is Home, safe in the Master’s arms.
Leroy was greeted at heaven’s gates by his parents, Pastor James & Ella Dorsey; niece, Tracey Dorsey; nephew, Eric Dorsey Sr.; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives.
He leaves to celebrate his life and legacy two daughters, Asia and Jada Dorsey, Taylor, Michigan; six siblings, Mary Reedy, Lillie Dorsey, Rev. The family would like to extend special thanks to Ivan E. Phillips and Paradise Funeral Chapel staff, Pastor Marvin T. Smith and Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Roy and Beatrice Manning, and Leroy’s sister, Lorane, who took exceptional care of him. May God bless you, keep you, and shine His favor upon you.
