Leroy Mcfadden

August 5, 1932 — November 26, 2014

A long, fruitful life was ended on Wednesday, November 26, 2014. While surrounded by his wife, family and friends, LeRoy Wilson McFadden Sr. was called by our Lord and blessed with eternal rest and peace. Age 82 years. LeRoy was born August 5, 1932 in New Zion, South Carolina the son of Willie and Moultrie Bell McFadden.
LeRoy served with the United States Army from 1951 until 1953 receiving an honorable discharge. He served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of several organizations including the Masonic Lodge 26. On May 25, 1985 he was united in holy matrimony with Mary Helen Robinson. She survives him. LeRoy was a faithful employee of General Motors until he retired on September 1, 1994. He was also a member of UAW Local 699. LeRoy was a member of Bethel AME Church currently under the leadership of Pastor P. David Saunders. He enjoyed carpentry and coon hunting. He was a great cook who was well known for his sweet potato pies. LeRoy was greatly loved by his family who took special care of him when his health began to fail. His presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to celebrate his legacy his devoted wife of 30 years, Mary Helen McFadden; five sons, LeRoy Moore of South Carolina, Wilson LeRoy Jr. (Debra) McFadden, Kelvin (Daphaine) McFadden, Levern (Shirley) McFadden and Danny McFadden all of Saginaw, Michigan; one daughter, Sharon (James) Hulett of Saginaw, Michigan; two stepdaughters, Desiree Colvin of Saginaw, Michigan and Lynette Thomas of Dallas, Texas; twenty-eight grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; two brothers, Phillip (Rosa) McFadden and Samuel (Constance) McFadden both of Jacksonville, Florida; two sisters, Doris McFadden of Jacksonville, Florida and Mary (Solomon) Harris of Hobesound, Florida; many other relatives and friends including his special friends, Calvin and Vivian Williams, Curtis and Ruth Burgess, Milton and Betty McDonald and his coon hunting buddies.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Moultrie Bell McFadden, four brothers, Willie, Lizzie, Costello and Norman McFadden, two sisters, Nomi McFadden and Ida Mae Brown McFadden.
The family wishes to express special thanks to the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center Palliative Care Unit and Pastor P. David Saunders and the Bethel AME Church family.
