Leroy Schaffer (Lansing)

LeRoy Edsil Schaffer passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at his residence in Lansing, Michigan. Age 81 years. He was born June 3, 1937 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The son of Byron Schaffer and Myrtle (Demond) Schaffer.

LeRoy resided in Lansing, Michigan for more than 35 years. He was affiliated with the Salvation Army and Calvary Grace Assembly Church of Eaton Rapids. LeRoy worked in many capacities, he was a shear operator; did janitorial work in a nursing home and was a painter. He liked fishing, watching old western shows, collecting a number of odds and ends. LeRoy also enjoyed playing on his PlayStation. He was a kind, loving and generous man who loved his family. LeRoy would always try to keep the peace with everyone.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 37 years, Patricia Schaffer; 3 children, Byron (Lori) Warden of Oregon, Bessie Eller of Muskegon, Michigan and Mary Marinez of Lansing, Michigan; Stepdaughter, Barbara Kunkleman of Lansing, Michigan; 6 grandchildren, Matthew and Corey Eller, Dakota Walker, Brian Duncan, Joseph and Jonathon Warden; several great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Barbara Kellogg, Mickey Crisp and Bessie Sparks; several nieces including McKenzie and Tina Morse, Tammy Nash and Nancy Burch; several nephews including Glenn Scott, Paul Schaffer and Andy Scott; cousins including Leon; 2 sisters-in-law, Barb Tackelberry and Jackie Anderson; many other relatives and friends including special friends Jeanie Fisher and Phillip Lacy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Beatrice Scott; 4 brothers, David Schaffer, Charles Schaffer, Robert Schaffer and Bernard Schaffer; 2 stepchildren, Kirk Kunkleman and Danny Kunkleman.

Memorial Services for Mr. LeRoy Edsil Schaffer will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Calvary Grace Assembly Church, 915 Water Street, Eaton Rapids, Michigan 48827 beginning at 1:00 p.m.
