Lewis Mendenhall (Lansing)

Mr. Lewis Mendenhall passed away April 16, 2019 at McLaren Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. Age 79 years. He was born November 21, 1939 to the late Johnnie, Sr. and Ella Mae Mendenhall in Camden, Alabama.

Lewis was educated at Camden Academy in Alabama. He moved to Lansing, Michigan in the early 1960’s. He was employed at Fisher Body until his retirement. Lewis’s passions since childhood were fishing, as well as playing cards and dominoes with his buddies, Henry and J.B. He loved his family and friends. Lewis was someone who could be counted on. He could be generous to a fault. He was a true Christian in his heart.

Lewis leaves to cherish his memory his 4 daughters Sarah and Shannon both of Lansing, Michigan, Christine and Jeriesha "Hot Foot" both of Phoenix, Arizona; 5 sons Lewis Michael, Maurice and Dion all of Lansing, Michigan, Kevin and Brian both of Phoenix, Arizona; 16 loving grandchildren, Brandon, Brittney, Nathan, Lacoastiest, Kristopher, Tyshun, JawaShaun, Kristianna, Taperra, Jada, Iziqio, Brielle, Khya, Bridgette, Terrence, and Ama Resse; 7 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Leila Mae Williams and Mary Lillie Robbins; sister-in-law Minnie Mendenhall; brother, Johnnie Mendenhall, Junior; many nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends including Valerie Vickers, Marguerite Mendenhall and Mary Ruiz.

He was preceded in death by his parents Johnnie, Sr. and Ella Mae Mendenhall; 3 brothers, Hollinger "Larry" Woods, Lepolean Mendenhall and Johnnie Warb Wright, and sister, Wyhoma Mendenhall.
