Lillian E. Ockelberry (Lansing)

Lillian Eva Ockelberry, our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend transitioned from her earthly home on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the blessed age of 93 years. Lillian was born December 10, 1923 in Itasca, Texas, the daughter of Elton and Eva Spears Henderson
Lillian moved to Fort Worth, Texas as a small child. She was a member of Wesley Chapel A.M.E, Church where she served on the usher board and choir ministries. Lillians career included 30 years at Monnig's Department Store, the Fort Worth Texas Independent School District, Industrial Towel Company in Dallas, Texas, and she also provided home health care for the elderly. Lillian loved taking care of people, especially her family. Lillian found great pleasure in being surrounded by the love and laughter of others.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, daughters Ruthie (Frank Sr.) Washington of Lansing, Michigan, Marie (A.V.) Mack of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Alicia (Victor) Jackson of Tennessee, Frank (Elicia) Washington, Jr., Sabastian (Aja) Washington, both of Lansing, Michigan, Tonda Johnson of Dallas, Texas, Rhonda (Rick) Turner of Dallas, Texas, 32 great-grands, 25 great-great grands, and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, M.J. Johnson, parents, Elton & Eva Henderson, sisters, Maudester Reed, Mamie Marshall, Betty MaShaw, brother, Lewis Henderson, grandchildren, Lillian Johnson, Curley Newton.
