Beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, Lillian L. Strong, affectionately known as "Lurl" went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 31,2022, at the age of 82 years. She was born July 1, 1939, to the late Burnice and Fraunetta Dunbar in Center Ridge, Arkansas.
Lillian was a longtime resident of Saginaw, Michigan prior to relocating to Gary, Indiana. She was married to Raymond Strong who preceded her in death in 2006. To their union, five children were born: Sheila (Gregory) Chiestder, Gary, Indiana, Karl (Venis) Strong, Kettering, Ohio, Teresa (Isaac Jr.) Sutton, Merlene Strong, Latoya (Ricardo) Rosser, all of Grand Rapids, Michigan; also, a son/grandson, Reverend Cory (Chirila) Hamilton, Saginaw, Michigan. Lillian was a faithful member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, serving as a Deaconess, Mission President, Sunday School teacher, and with the Kitchen Committee until the time of her illness. Lillian also enjoyed, knitting, crocheting, canning, cooking, crossword puzzles, shopping and reading her Bible. She was loved dearly by her family and friends, and she will be missed.
In addition to her children and son/grandson, Lillian’s memory will be cherished by her stepchildren, Linda Jones, Toledo Ohio, Earl (Patricia) Watkins, Indianapolis, Indiana; grand-children, Nicole (fiancé Carlton Whitley), Damierrio, Bria, Dametreon, Isaac Javon, DaSani, Jada, Talisha (Eric), great-grandchildren, Courtney, Caaleb, Cory C., Alanna, Aniya, Chayce, Sinai and MoHana; sisters, Rachel Sharp, Phoenix, Arizona, Doris Dunbar, Elkhart, Indiana; Joyce Stone and Mavis Stone, Hayti, Missouri, Cathy (Frank) Williams, St. Louis, Missouri; Sophia Allen, Columbia, Missouri; brothers, Artie Dunbar, Markham, Illinois, J.D., Howard, and Manuel Dunbar, all of Saginaw, Michigan, John Dunbar, Kansas City, Missouri, David and Wayne Dunbar, both of Hayti Missouri; sister in-law and special friend, Lillie B Strong, Clinton, Maryland; sister-in-love, Joann Pershay, Saginaw, Michigan; aunts, Rosie Smith and Mary Brockmon; special friends, Laura Lyons, Donna Dennis, and Ernestine Bothuel-Walker; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Lillian was also preceded in death by one sister, Velma; four brothers, RC, Tommy Lee, Michael, and Tommy; three sisters-in-law, Rosie, Bonnie Mae, and Ozella; brothers-in-law, Alex, Rufus, Knowledge, Willie, Claymon, Wisdom, Ephron Jr., Henry, Curtis T., and AB.
