Mrs. Lillie Mae Woods passed away Friday, August 5, 2011 at St. Marys of Michigan. Age 80 years. She was born September 7, 1930 in Louisville, Mississippi to Eunice and Artie Carter.
Growing up in Louisville, MS, Lillie Mae aspired to be a nurse, realizing her call and chosen abilities to serve God and mankind. She married her childhood sweetheart Albert Woods in 1950. She traveled extensively until having her only son and settling in Hattiesburg, MS. She worked diligently in the Army of the Lord as an Evangelist at True Light Missionary Baptist Church and Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God in Christ both in Hattiesburg, MS.
After relocating in 1991, she finally united with Emmanuel Church of Deliverance where she also served as head of the Mothers Board. As a passionate volunteer working with the elderly, a Sunday school teacher and the "Top Chef of fried southern style chicken, collard greens with okra, buttermilk cornbread and tea cakes.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, David Woods, sisters, Missionary Lue Willie Hardin, Pastor Faye Carter; brothers, Sr. Pastor Provis Carter, Brother Pervis Carter; sister-in-law, Co-Pastor Fannie Carter; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Woods; parents, Eunice and Artie Carter; grandparents, David and Lillie Tripplett and Mary Carter.
