Linda Newkirk (Lansing)

Linda Jean Newkirk passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Sparrow Health Systems Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. Age 77 years. She was born November 4, 1944, in Hanford, California, to parents, Virginia Young and Marion Wells.

Linda attended and graduated nursing school in Las Vegas, Nevada. She enjoyed a career in this field for many years, until her retirement in 2009 from the company, Home Sweet Home.

She enjoyed cooking, reading, shopping, puzzles, and travel.

Linda’s joy in life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was strong, caring, loving, and always helping others. Linda’s smile would light up a room. She was known for not being frightened of anything.

She leaves to cherish her memory children, Dannette Newkirk, Ericka Ford, Danica Caprista, Sandra Lopez-Gonzales, Ruben Lopez, Christopher Lopez, and Larry Whitaker; grandchildren, Nkosi Sikele Buford, Dexter Davon Allen, Jr., Joracha Shawnae Buford, Denisha Renae Buford, Kaleea Marie Manning, Kristopher Ford, Kyann Ford, Khya Mendenhall, and Torin Roberts, Jr.; great grandchildren, Lorenzo, Niveiah, Nkosi, Jr., Kaiden, Kamari, and K’lynn; sister, Susan Young; brother, Michael; aunts, Mildred Frausto, Wilma Epps, Regenia Wood, and Melda Hunter; uncles, Buel Wells, Floyd Wells, Burl Wells, Jimmy Wells, and Johnny Wells; and many other relatives and friends including special friend, Joel Farrow.

Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Young; and father, Marion Wells.
