Lorinzo was the 9th born of 11 children. He graduated head of his high school class from Fayette County Training School in 1960. Immediately following graduation, Lorinzo joined the United States Navy where he was a boxer and served as a chef until being honorably discharged in 1964. Upon his discharge, Lorinzo relocated to Columbus, Ohio to reunite with his family. In 1968 Lorinzo moved to Saginaw, Michigan where he held a number of jobs over the course of his life. In fulfilling his definite purpose in life, his greatest impact and influence that he had was his passion for working with the youth and elderly. Lorinzo worked for the Saginaw Board of Education at Arthur Eddy Junior High School for several years as a Para-Professional. He later became an intake counselor for the Arete Center and the Wolverine Youth Detention Facility. He also worked for the Meals and Wheels Program where he served the elderly and disabled. He retired as a self-employed Real Estate Investor.
Lorinzo Whitson was also a graduate of Delta College where he received his Associates Degree in Liberal Arts. He then went on to pursue his Bachelors degree in Psychology. He was a faithful member of St. Luke CME Church for over 25 years where he helped prepare breakfast for the congregation, served in the Male Choir and as a Sunday School Teacher. Lorinzo was a traveling man who went to visit the young and old anywhere in the country, no GPS needed. Being a novice photographer, he captured those memories everywhere he went. Moreover, Lorinzo was a philosopher and poet. And for those of you who knew him knew this all too well.
Lorinzo will be forever cherished by his loving children, Billy Ray (Vanessa) Nalls, Cordova, Alabama, Velma T. Whitson, Lorinzo M. (Sheila) Whitson Joker, Susan E.
