Lou Bertha Danley (Lansing)

June 10, 1934 — May 3, 2021

Mrs. LouBertha (Spears) Danley transitioned to be with the Lord on Monday, May 3, 2021. Age 86 years. She was born to the union of the Rev. Willis Spears and Corrine Bush-Spears on June 10, 1934, in Bourbon, Mississippi.

She confessed hope in Christ at an early age. She later relocated to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. LouBertha was united in holy matrimony to the Elijah Danley on March 12, 1952. To this union six children were born: Anthony Danley, Steven Danley, Patricia Miller all of Lansing, Michigan, Diane (Henry) Nixon of Gary, Indiana, James (Rose) Danley of Chesterton, Indiana, and Patrick (Belinda) Danley of Grand Rapids, Michigan. LouBertha moved to Gary, Indiana in 1965 and united with New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the late Reverend G. B. Parker.

LouBertha was a member of New Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Columbus Clayton and Pastor Lonnie J Chipp. She was a faithful and devoted member of the Mother’s Board and Women’s Heart to Heart ministry.

Her legacy will be continued through her four sons, two daughters, nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, and nephews.

LouBertha was preceded in death by her grandson, Jerry Darrod Little; parents, Rev. Willie and Corrine Spears; six sisters, Margaret (Spears) Banks, Mildred (Spears) Sinclair, Ernestine Spears, Marlene (Spears) Taylor, Kathleen (Spears) Hawthorn, and Doretha (Spears) Holmes; five brothers, Joe Lee Spears, Leon Spears, Cornelius Spears, Melvistine Spears, and Isaiah Spears.
