Lovie Wilhite, Sr. (Lansing)

June 25, 1939 — July 24, 2022

Lovie Wilhite Sr. was born June 25, 1939 in Hernando,Mississippi to Lela Mae Jones and George Wilhite. He originallymoved to Lansing, Michigan in the 1960’s. He enjoyed assisting people and lending a helping hand when and wherever needed. He loved “tinkering” with cars and anything mechanical. He worked for Lansing Poured Walls for a number of years before relocating to Georgia and starting his own business (Southern Foundations). He returned to Lansing in 2005.


Lovie peacefully passed into glory on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at Divine Life Center, after a lengthy illness at the age of 83. He leaves to cherish his memory: ten children, Lynette Gibson, Theresa Reynolds, Lovie Wilhite, Jr., Keisha Wilhite, Josephine Brown, and Sam Tucker, all of Lansing; Deloise Tucker and Carol Tucker of Georgia; Ray Wilhite and Tommie Wilhite of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; goddaughter, Paula Garrett of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Lamont Jackson of Jesup, Georgia, Carlos Reynolds, Quaron


Wilhite, Khaurin Wilhite, Lov’Aya Rodriguez, Tyrice Reynolds, Tyisha Reynolds, all of Lansing; three siblings - sister, Teina Christian of Lansing; two brothers, Charles Wilhite of Lansing, and Willie Henry (Vickie) Wright of Las Vegas, Nevada; long time best friend, Pastor William Crenshaw, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other beloved relatives and friends.


Lovie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Lee Wilhite; two brothers, Odes Christian and John Christian; two sisters, Josephine Christian and Corine Jones.


We will miss you. Rest in peace and greet us on the other side with open arms. Rejoice now with those who have gone before you.


The family acknowledges, with deep appreciation and gratitude, the many expressions of love through prayers, kind and comforting words, telephone calls, cards, visits and other acts of kindness. May God forever bless and keep each of you in His tender loving care.


In addition, we wish to express our appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to Divine Life Center and Staff, Diane James, Allie B. Crenshaw, and Gwen Crenshaw for their warm and caring assistance.
