Loyd Demery

August 20, 1941 — October 30, 2013

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Loyd Demery went home to be with the Lord on October 30, 2013 at Covenant Healthcare-Cooper. Age 72 years. He was born August 20, 1941 in Coushatta, Louisiana to Clarence and Sue Demery.
Loyd accepted Christ at an early age when he became a member of Springville Baptist Church in Coushatta, Louisiana. He relocated to Saginaw, Michigan in the late 1960s. Loyd was a former member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church where he sang in the mass choir. He was united in holy matrimony to Carolyn on January 9, 1988. From this union one son was born, Shawn Demery. He was employed at General Motors Powertrain for 36 years, retiring in 1999. Loyd was a remarkable person who enjoyed doing his artwork in painting and drawing, singing and listening to jazz music and he loved fishing. He was a terrific cook and could make a pot of delicious gumbo which would take all day because the vegetables had to be cut very small and just right. He could build and repair anything. Loyd was quite the jokester, bringing laughter and smiles to everyone. His wonderful presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Carolyn Demery; one daughter and seven sons, Zina Mackey, Efrem and Ramon Demery, all of California, Gregory Demery of Louisiana, Loyd Jr. (Latisha), Jarvis and Quincy Demery, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Shawn Demery of Atlanta, Georgia; one stepson, Walter McGee Jr. of North Carolina whom he loved dearly; twenty grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Newton, Margaret (Russel) Davis, Bay City, Michigan, Dorothy (Willie) McBride, Denton, Texas; two brothers, Willie (Fannie) Demery of Dallas, Texas and Michael (Ira) Demery of Bay City, Michigan; one aunt, Addie D. Banks, Coushatta, Louisiana; one sister-in-law, Mary Easley of Atlanta, Georgia; two brothers-in-law, Rudolph (Katherine) Williams, Indiana, Royce Williams, Arkansas; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Henry Cole, Jeff Davis and Sam Pruitt.
Loyd was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Sue Demery, one daughter, Lucinda Tate.
The family would like to express special thanks to everyone who offered kind words, condolences and prayers.
