Lue C. Sudduth (Lansing)

May 18, 1931 — September 5, 2014

Deacon Lue C. “L.C.” Sudduth, transitioned to his Heavenly Home on Friday, September 5, 2014, at Sparrow Health System, Lansing Campus surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 18, 1931, in Sallis, Mississippi, to Robert Sudduth and Florida Sudduth, the fourth of eight children.


L.C. moved to Chicago, Illinois in the 1950s where he met the love of his life, Bobbie J. Clayborn. They were married on August 11, 1956, by Rev. E. Gladstone Scott in Lansing, Michigan and later became members of Friendship Baptist Church. From their union was born three children.


Deacon Sudduth worked at General Motors for 37 years retiring in December of 1989. He and his family were one of the founding families for New Mount Calvary Baptist Church (1964) and Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church (1972) where he served in several leadership positions at both churches. He reunited with Friendship Baptist Church later in life. L.C. was very community minded especially when it came to children. He had a special love for children, and they loved him! LC loved to watch sports, any sport either on television or in the stands. He had a great love for his church, God and Jesus Christ. The other thing he loved with all his heart was his family! He was proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren!


He leaves to celebrate his life and love, his wife of 58 years, Bobbie J; 3 children, Deborah J., Lansing, Michigan, Johnnie (Terri), Atlanta, Georgia and Rhoadell, Sr. (Reiko), Los Angeles, California; 7 grandchildren, Lovell Bland, TaKisha (Walter) James, Bladensburg, Maryland, Keturah (Coye) Bouyer, Rhoadell, Jr. (Szandra) Sudduth, Los Angeles/Budapest, Hungary, Erin Sudduth, Atlanta, Georgia, Mieko and Morgan Sudduth, Los Angeles, California; 10 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Christine Jones and Helen McRay, Chicago, Illinois; Nancy (Thomas) Williams, Jackson, Michigan and 2 brothers, Coleman (Erlene) Sudduth and Gregory (Windy) Scott, aunts, Lois Peteet, Kosciusko, Mississippi and Dorothy Peteet, Michigan City, Indiana; brother-in-law, Ludester Truman of Jackson, Michigan; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; friends who were chosen as family including his childhood friend, Claude (Helen) Guyton, Detroit, Michigan and 2 Godsons, Eugene (Wendy) Murchison & Jourdyn Thompson.


He was preceded into Glory by his Parents, siblings, Robert Michael Sudduth, Baby Boy Sudduth, and Deatrice "Dee" Truman; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
