Mrs. Mabel Jackson was quietly and peacefully called to her heavenly home Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Covenant Healthcare-Cooper . Age 80 years. The oldest of thirteen children, sometimes referred to as Brownie and Sis. She was born September 17, 1930 in Birmingham, Alabama to Thomas and Johnnie B. (Howard) Long.
She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend and powerhouse, our familys greatest gift. She expressed what it truly means to be loved, appreciated, humble, respectful and a fighter. At the age of 20, Mabel married the love of her life Ollie Jackson Jr. and together they raised one daughter, Patricia. Absolutely impossible to forget, intentionally impacting the lives of others in so many ways. She taught how to endure with a smile and with a modest voice of wisdom, courage and strength.
Self-giving, she formed special relationships with those that crossed her path. She retired from Saginaw Community Hospital after 35 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed reading, decorating, designing, landscaping, gardening and hosting gatherings. A strong woman who believed in fairness and always giving the greatest pieces of herself to her family, friends and to all. Her spirit and love for living will forever remain in our hearts.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Patricia Reed; grandchildren, Mark (Niki) Jackson, Sheila Jackson, Denise (Derrick) Brewer; great-grandchildren, Darren Jackson, Krystal Jackson, Kanisha Brewer, Brandon Jackson, Amara Jackson; Elijah Jackson, Amaya Jackson, sisters, Willie Bell Johnson, Luvenia Wilson, Thelma Long, Geraldine (Marvin) Hubbard, Caroline (Robert) Mixon, Shirley (David) Wilson; brothers,
